Know Your Rights training to learn about the importance of having an estate plan. We’ll discuss Texas laws of intestacy (dying without a Will) and how assets are allocated, versus what happens when a person dies testate (with a Will) and how having an estate plan can make it easier on surviving family members. We’ll also discuss why estate plans are especially important for families with special needs.

Kat McColley Doucette, a San Antonio Native, studied at Texas Military Institute, the University of Texas at Austin, and Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. She opened her own law firm in 2015 where she practiced business law, transactional real estate, estate planning, probate, and guardianship. In January 2020, she joined SALSA as Staff Attorney, where she heads legal clinics and extended representation volunteer opportunities in estate planning, probate, and guardianship to serve San Antonio’s indigent, vulnerable, and at-risk communities.
